It’s been known for ages that drinking coffee can be a factor behind urinary tract infection (UTI). More recently, however, scientific research has uncovered new insights that link coffee and UTI and suggest a need for caution when drinking coffee. <\/p>\n

UTI is an infection of the urinary tract, usually caused by bacteria. It is the second most common form of infection among women, and men may also suffer from this unpleasant condition. However, it’s not only the bacteria that cause UTI; dehydration, poor diet, and some lifestyle choices can also contribute to its development.<\/p>\n

Coffee, as one of these lifestyle choices, has been linked to UTI. Research shows that drinking coffee might increase one’s risk of developing a UTI by a magnitude of 33%. Additionally, coffee has been shown to increase levels of cortisol and adrenaline, hormones associated with stress and anxiety, which can raise the risk of UTI further.<\/p>\n

Apart from coffee, other beverages such as tea, soda, and energy drinks can also increase one’s risk of developing UTI. The caffeine found in these drinks can cause your body to eliminate more fluids and make it harder for your bladder to hold urine. This can create an environment that’s conducive to bacterial growth.<\/p>\n
