A Closer Look at the Research

Research has been conducted on the relationship between drinking coffee and its effect on extending life. It has been found that consuming coffee can reduce the risk of premature death due to its many health benefits, including protecting against some cancers, type 2 diabetes, liver disease, and stroke.

Coffee is known to be a rich source of antioxidants, compounds which reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in the body. These compounds can provide protection from the damage inflicted on cells by free radicals.

Studies have found an inverse relationship between drinking coffee and mortality rates. Those who consumed three to five cups of coffee per day had the lowest risk of premature death compared to those who drank none or those who drank six or more cups.

One study found that people who drank four or more cups of coffee per day had a 64% lower risk of death from any cause compared to non-coffee drinkers. This type of study only shows a correlation and not causation, but it does provide us with evidence that consuming coffee can have a positive effect on life expectancy.
